Mr. Li shared insights and solutions for effective environmental control

Mr. Li, the environmental control expert from Farmrob, recently delivered a presentation at

Haid Group. The topic focused on insights and practical solutions for maintaining optimal

environmental control in poultry housing during the autumn and winter.

Chickens need energy to maintain a suitable body temperature. Autumn and winter 

temperatures are low and fluctuate greatly. Chicken houses require continuous heating to

maintain body temperature. If the temperature is too low, the energy from the feed ingested

by the chickens will be used primarily for warmth rather than growth and egg production,

leading to decreased productivity. Therefore, the key to environmental control in autumn and

winter is not simply “heating,” but rather implementing scientific ventilation while effectively

maintaining warmth to achieve environmental stability with minimal energy consumption.

Adopting a suitable ventilation mode is crucial. When temperatures are low, lateral ventilation

is often used to reduce localized cold stress. Ensure minimum ventilation volume to

guarantee sufficient fresh air exchange per hour. Dynamically adjust the fan cycle and

number of fans based on indoor humidity and outside temperature to ensure minimal

temperature fluctuations.

The essence of environmental control in autumn and winter lies in achieving the optimal

balance between “heat preservation” and “ventilation,” thereby directing more feed energy

towards production, achieving healthy farming and maximizing profits.
